“The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection”

The Catholic Church follows her Lord in the final Passover.

Israel, God’s chosen people, handed their Christ – the Christ proclaimed in Psalms, prophesied in the Books of Prophets, their Lord and their God – to the pagan rulers for crucifixion and death. Israel failed to recognize their Christ.

The sex abuse crisis within the members of Catholic clergy, invokes a similar pattern. Men within the Church, did not recognize Her. With their crimes, the Church is brought before Caesar. In the pretext of punishing criminals, pressure now builds on the Pilates and Caesars of this age to attack the very essence of Catholic faith – Her Sacraments and Teachings.

We are handing Her to the pagan rulers of our time. Are we at Her final trial ?

“Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.”

(Catechism of the Catholic Church, 675)

Today, Catholics are fleeing the Church, just as Christ’s followers fled before crucifixion.

The most important question facing a Catholic today will be this: Where will I stand in the “Way of the Cross” ? Will you be,

St. John the Apostle, who stood with Christ at the foot of the cross,

or

St. Peter, who claimed he didn’t know Jesus,

or

Judas, who betrayed Jesus.
